2nd person succumbs to injuries

Banks DIH mishap

Twenty-five-year-old Anthony Lowe, who was injured one week ago after a building collapsed at Banks DIH Limited, has succumbed to his injuries.

Lowe, who hailed from Mocha Arcadia, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was admitted in an unconscious state to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital.
However, hospital sources confirmed that he died around 08:00h on Thursday.
According to information received, Lowe, after being admitted, never regained consciousness; he had suffered severe injuries to his brain and lungs.
He leaves to mourn his wife, who is six months pregnant.
Lowe is the second construction worker who died following the incident which occurred around 13:00h on July 8. The other person was Jagmohan Bissessar, 61, of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD). He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital on the day the incident took place.
The two now dead employees and others were in the process of demolishing a building at Banks DIH Limited when the structure collapsed. They worked for a private construction firm.
