2nd victim in Abary accident dies

Days after being pinned by a Canter in the Abary Creek, Conrad Williams of Lot 12 Cottage Village, West Coast Berbice, has succumbed to his injuries at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The accident had already claimed that life of 14-year-old Doodnauth Suklall of De Hoop, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara.

The duo was reportedly pinned by a Canter which was providing light to a pontoon, while crossing the Abary Creek on Monday evening.

Based on reports, the Canter reportedly collapsed from its position after the driver failed to apply the hand-break when he exited. As a result the two men at the rear of the vehicle, were pinned. The teenager died on the spot while Williams sustained broken bones and other injuries to his leg. He was taken to the GPHC.

An investigation has been launched into the unfortunate incident.
