3 busted with ganja, cocaine in separate Police operations

A 30-year-old man was arrested on Monday evening after he was found at Kwakwani, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) with a quantity of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Preliminary investigations revealed that, acting on information received, a team of Policemen and rural constables went to the home of a known female in the Kwakwani district and conducted a search on the person of her reputed husband. During that operation, a small black haversack containing a wrapped transparent parcel that contained the ganja was found.

When told of the offence and cautioned, he said, “Boss, is me own, ah bring it to do a lil hussle”.
He was arrested and escorted to the Kwakwani Police Station, where the ganja, when weighed, amounted to 536 grams. He is expected to be charged shortly.
Meanwhile, a 41-year-old male and a 59-year-old female were arrested following the discovery of 26 grams of cocaine at their Bee Hive, East Coast Demerara (ECD) home on Monday evening.

The Police have said that, acting on information received, ranks went to the couple’s home to arrest a 30-year-old male who is wanted for threatening behaviour.
However, on approaching the location, the 41-year-old male was seen throwing something into the yard.
As such, the Police conducted a search, during which a green plastic bag containing two pieces of creamish, hard, rock-like substances suspected to be cocaine were discovered. The couple denied having any knowledge of the drug.
The female was arrested and escorted to the Cove and John Police Station, along with the suspected narcotic, while the male made good his escape. He subsequently turned up at the Police station, and was taken into custody.
The suspected cocaine was weighed in their presence, and amounted to 26 grams. They were both told of the allegation and cautioned, but again they denied ownership of the illegal substance. Investigations are ongoing.
