3 nabbed with illegal gun, ammo at Eccles

Three men were nabbed with an unlicensed firearm and matching rounds of ammunition on Thursday at Eccles Industrial Site, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Reports are that Police acting on intelligence gathered intercepted a vehicle at Eccles Industrial Site about 13:45h and conducted a search.

The three men who were nabbed by Police

During the search, two of the suspects made a bold attempt to escape, but were promptly nabbed along with the driver of the car. An unlicensed pistol, along with two live rounds of ammunition, was found in possession of one of the men. The car was intercepted near two popular business places in Industrial Site prompting Police to believe that they may have thwarted a robbery. The vehicle was impounded and the suspects taken into custody. They are currently assisting with the investigation.
Just a few weeks ago, two men were detained by the Police in relation to the discovery of an unlicensed single-barrel shotgun and 15 live cartridges.

The gun that was found on Thursday

The men, Nicholas Boyce and Rockford Hinds, were riding a motorcycle along the Number 72 Village, Corentyne, Berbice road when Police stopped them. Police had observed the suspects acting suspiciously and approached them, but they escaped and, in the process, collided with another motorcycle.
A haversack that Police said was in the possession of the suspects was left behind and found to contain an unlicensed single-barrel shotgun and 15 live cartridges.
