Magistrate Clive Nurse on Tuesday sentenced a Lindener to 36 months in prison after he was found guilty of stealing a car in his final appearance at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
The defendant in the case, 24-year-old Denzil Bentick of 394 One Mile, Wismar, Linden, had made several appearances in relation to the charge of simple larceny, and was remanded to prison. The defendant was convicted of stealing an AT 192 motor car bearing licence plate PLL 9006, on Sunday, August 14 at Potaro Road, Mackenzie, Linden.
The car, which is valued $1 million, is the property of Uroy Major, the Virtual Complainant (VC). On the day in question, the VC parked the said car at his girlfriend’s home around 01:30h at the aforementioned location, only to discover it missing at approximately 05:07h.
The matter was reported to the Mackenzie Police Station and an investigation was launched. The defendant was subsequently contacted and found to be in possession of the stolen motor car. He was then arrested and taken into custody where he was charged with the offence. He was previously charged with a break and enter and larceny offence.
