3rd round matches to be played this weekend

…Albion, Rose Hall Town already in semis

The historic Berbice Cricket Board/Banks DIH Ltd Banks Beer Two-Day first division tournament continues this weekend with the hosting of the third and final round of matches.
The Two-Day tournament is the first of its kind to be hosted in Berbice since 2004 and involves the top eight First-Division teams. The Albion and Rose Hall Town Namilco Thunderbolt Flour teams from Zone B have reached the semi-finals while Tucber Park, Young Warriors and Blairmont are in a tight tussle for the two spots in Zone A.
In Zone A, Blairmont Community Centre will clash with Young Warriors at the Cumberland Ground. Blairmont are expected to feature players like Seon Glasgow, Nigel Deodat, Javed Karim, and Marvon Prashad against the likes of Seon Hetmyer, Alex Algoo, Sudesh Dhaniram, Ricardo Ramdehol and Trevon Stanislaus of Young Warriors. In the second match in Zone A, Tucber Park CC spearheaded by Garfield Benjamin, Kwesi Mickle, Leon Swammy, Martin Singh and Anthony D’Andrade will travel to Bush Lot to play West Berbice. The home team will include players like Shamar Angel, Joshua Van-Tull, Leon Andrews, and Keyron Joseph.
Bottom of the table, Port Mourant and Rose Hall Canje will do battle for pride at the Port Mourant Ground. The home team are likely to depend heavily on West Indies Under-15 player Rampertab Ramnauth, Demetri Cameron, Joshua Ramsammy, and Salim Khan. The ever-improving Rose Hall Canje will be spearheaded by their inspirational captain, Ameer Rahaman. He will have support from West Indies youth player Isiah Thorne, Michael Veersammy, Sasenarine Sukhoo, and Kedar Amsterdam. The arch-rivals will be seeking their first victory at the Area H Ground. Then, RHT Namilco Thunderbolt Flour will be playing Albion in the battle of the top two teams. Albion will be led by national senior player Gudakesh Motie, Jonathan Foo, Kandasammy Surujnarine, Kevin Umroa, Sharaz Ramcharran, David Latchana, and Gourav Ramesh. Eon Hooper will lead the home team effort with support from Junior Sinclair, Jason Sinclair, Shawn Pereira, Sylus Tyndall, Jonathan Rampersaud, Keith Simpson, Brandon Prashad, Delbert Hicks, and Keon Sinclair.
BCB President Hilbert Foster is hoping that the board will be able to complete all of the 2019 First-Division tournaments by the end of February. The BCB will shortly announce the dates for the finals of the Ivan Madray 20/20, Busta Champion of Champions 40-over and Stag Beer 50-over tournaments.
