A male basketball contingent of five departed Guyana’s shores early Thursday morning as they head over to St Lucia for the International Basketball Federation (IBF) Lesser Antilles Under-18 Finals.
As basketball continues to grow in Guyana, its expansion has been taken to the Regional-level once again due to the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) having qualified to participate after a marvellous run of late.
The delegation compromise of Stanton Rose who will lead the side, Jonathan Mangra, Jamal Gilkes, Timothy Thompson and Junior Hercules, who is the National 3×3 Coordinator. Also, Dennis Clarke will be joining the team as assistant Coordinator today.
These four players enjoyed some preparation ahead of the event with the League of Champions being played, and all of them showing some amount of form.
Guyana will join Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Barbados, Curaçao, Guadeloupe, Martinique, St Lucia, St Vincent and Grenadines, St Maarten and Trinidad and Tobago.
Guyana is tabled in Pool B and will first take on St Vincent tomorrow before playing Curaçao.
