4 arrested for attempting to rob Campbellville businessman

A 23-year-old man and his three accomplices were taken into Police custody on Thursday after they reportedly attempted to rob a Campbellville, Georgetown businessman.
Based on information received, on the day in question between 17:50h to 19:00h, an intelligence-led sting operation led to the arrest of the 23-year-old male in Campbellville, Georgetown, for attempting to commit a robbery.
During that time, Police searched the suspect and unearthed an axe, a knife, 12 grams of cannabis and two iPhones. He was told of the allegation and cautioned. The suspect cooperated with the Police.
He then led Police ranks to John Smith Street Campbellville, where a second suspect was arrested in front of his yard.
A search was conducted on his motorcycle and home, and a quantity of ganja was found along with two iPhones that were suspected to have been stolen.
The two other suspects were also in the area and were promptly arrested.
They were taken to Brickdam Police Station where the first suspect gave a written statement under caution, admitting that he was attempting to rob an identified businessman.
He further stated that the others who were arrested were part of the plot to commit the robbery. They remain in custody and are assisting with investigations.
