Four persons have been arrested for the murder of 60-year-old Hemraj Pardessi, an overseas-based Guyanese.

Reports are that the murder occurred at Reliance Settlement, East Canje Berbice (Region Six, East Berbice-Corentyne) on Tuesday at about 23:42h.
Pardessi had returned to Guyana in July, and had been residing alone at Reliance.
According to the Police, his nephew had last seen alive on Tuesday, in the company of another male.

Police who responded to the crime scene discovered the man’s body lying face-down with what appeared to be blood coming from his nostrils and duct tape wrapped around his neck.
Several traces of what appeared to be blood were also seen on the stairway leading to the upper flat of his house; and that entire upper flat was ransacked.
In a release, the Police have said that intelligence-led investigations have led to the arrest of the four suspects – three men, aged 22, 28, and 31, and a 36-year-old female. This newspaper was told that the suspects include two of the dead man’s relatives.
Pardessi had been operating a SuperBet business at his premises. He leaves to mourn his wife and three children. (G4)
