4-car Guyanese contingent set for GT Challenge in Barbados

Four Guyanese teams will compete against some of the Caribbean’s leading racers when round four of the GT Challenge series is staged in Barbados on August 29 and August 30.
The Guyanese challenge will be led by Will Redford in the recently-acquired Mercedes-AMG, sponsored by Peter Lewis Construction. Redford and the Mercedes will enter the round with strong momentum after the car dominated round three at the South Dakota Circuit.
Jamaican driver Tomi Gore will also represent a Guyanese team when he takes the wheel of the Lamborghini sponsored by Jumbo Jet Auto Sales, VAL’s Construction, and Rohit Lumber Yard.
Veteran driver Mark Vieira has been registered to compete in the Mohamed’s Excavating Porsche, while Rameez Mohamed will pilot the KTM X-Bow sponsored by BM Soat and Prem’s Electrical.

The four entries will face competitors from across the region during the two-day meeting.
A spokesperson for the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) extended best wishes to the teams as they prepare to carry Guyana’s flag in Barbados.
“We wish all four of the teams well on their bid to represent the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club and Guyana,” the spokesperson said.
The GT Challenge series has strengthened regional competition by bringing together some of the Caribbean’s leading drivers and high-performance cars.
The GMR&SC said it was proud to be among the organisations leading the development of the series in the Caribbean. The club also wants to attract more international racing competitions to Guyana while positioning the country as a leading regional motorsport and sport tourism destination.
