4 in custody for execution of Surinamese businessman

Four persons were taken into custody on Tuesday following the discovery of the body of a Surinamese businessman on the Number 63 Beach on Monday.
Authorities in Suriname have confirmed that the arrests are in connection with a cocaine bust made one week ago which might be connected to the murder of the businessman.
The body of a Surinamese national, identified as Nitinder Oemrawsingh, 40, of Corentyne Polder Nickerie Suriname was on Monday afternoon found on the

Number 63 Beach on the Corentyne with a single gunshot wound to the head.
The rice trader was implicated in a cocaine bust last Tuesday by Surinamese authorities. Some 2300 kilograms of cocaine was found in rice in a canter truck, which was intercepted at Jules Sedney Haven by the Narcotics Brigade of Suriname.
Officials in the neighbouring country remain mum on the arrests which were made hours after the discovery of the body.
Among those arrested are a truck driver and Customs Officer. However, the

confiscated cocaine is expected to be destroyed shortly.
Reports are that the now dead man went missing on Friday after meeting with investigators in Suriname. It is believed that he made his way to Guyana shortly after and might have been on the run.
It has been confirmed that he crossed the border by means other than the official Guyana-Suriname border ferry.
Following the discovery of the body, an uncle visited the Skeldon Hospital Mortuary where he confirmed that the body is that of his nephew.
Up to late Tuesday evening, detectives were reviewing the footage from their surveillance cameras.
Meanwhile, sources told Guyana Times that upon discovery of the man’s body on Monday, an undisclosed sum of US currency was found in his possession.
