4 months after, family continues to search for missing fisherman
Twenty-nine-year-old Lalbachan Bhagwandat, also called “Jagan” of Lot 11 North Section, Canal Polder Number Two, West Bank Demerara (WBD), a fisherman, disappeared since mid-June and his family is adamant that he is alive.
More than four months have passed, but Bhagwandat’s family continues to search with the hope of finding him or receiving worthy information about his whereabouts.
On April 17 around 22:30h, the now missing man and his family were at an aunt’s home when he began having delusions that someone wanted to kill him. Yaswanti Bhagwandat, the man’s sister, told Guyana Times that prior to him going missing, he was complaining of hearing voices.
She explained that her brother told her that the voices in his head were people planning to kill him. He also kept asking his family if they were also hearing the voices.
“He even said he was seeing people with guns and cutlasses,” she said
She underscored that while at their aunt, her brother ran out of the house and into the backlands. He was never seen again. Relatives ran after him, but they were unable to keep up. Since Bhagwandat’s disappearance, his family has repeatedly looked for him but to no avail.
As such, they have offered a reward of $100,000 to anyone who might have information about his whereabouts. They can be contacted on 630-5006 or the nearest police station.
