4 new COVID-19 deaths, 50 new cases recorded

As of August 30, 2020, the Public Health Ministry has recorded three COVID-19 deaths and 50 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours.
With the 50 new cases, the total has now crept up to 1234 while the death toll now stands at 38.
The latest visit who died at about 17:00h on Sunday at the Geprgetown Public Hosptial is a 31-year-old of Region Six. Earlier in the day, a 53-year-old woman from the East Coast of Demerara (ECD), also died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) at around 13:00h on Sunday.
In addition, the Ministry reported the 37th COVID-19 death, which is a 78-year-old woman of Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo).
Late Saturday evening, an 80-year-old man, also of Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica), succumbed while being treated at the GPHC.
From August 16 to date, the Ministry has now recorded a whopping 15 COVID-19-related deaths.
The Ministry’s dashboard, as of August 30, 2020, only included 36 deaths, but a statement explained that the two deaths recorded on Sunday were not included. This is due to a decision that was taken to publish the data at 16:30h daily, with information from the previous day.
Meanwhile, of the active cases, 13 persons remain in the designated Intensive Care Unit – an increase of four from Saturday.
Eighty-seven persons are in institutional isolation, 124 in institutional quarantine, and 411 on home isolation. The total recovered cases stand at 687– an increase of 51.
A breakdown shows that there were five new cases from Region One (Barima-Waini); one from Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam); seven from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara); 24 from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica); two from Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice); one from Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne); three from Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) and seven from Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo).
The number of cases in Regions Eight (Potaro-Siparuni) and 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) remain the same, as 15 and 75, respectively.
