Home News 4 persons in custody for Uitvlugt murder
Four persons are in Police custody assisting with the investigations into the murder of 36-year-old Clinton Walks, according to D Division (West Demerara) Commander Leslie James.
The arrests were made on Tuesday and Wednesday as the Police continue their investigations. The suspects are said to be members of the community and are all related. They are currently in custody at the Leonora Police Station.
A post-mortem examination performed on Wednesday revealed that Walks died as a result of several chop wounds about his body.
The dead man’s sister, Junella Hall, told Guyana Times that they were receiving very little information from the Police about the investigations. She added that they have to rely on hearsay to have some idea of what progress the authorities are making.
Hall had earlier stated that she was convinced her brother was murdered because he assisted the Police in their investigation of a robbery in the area. She said that the matter was before the courts and her now dead brother testified as an eyewitness.
Walks, of Lot 3 Bus Shed Street, Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara, was discovered on the Uitvlugt Access Road around 07:00h on Sunday with chop wounds to his back, left ear and abdomen. He was known to the Police and was wanted for several break-ins committed in the village. Back in 2015, he was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment after he was found guilty of break and enter and larceny.
Walks had lived alone and had never married nor had any children. He will be buried today.
