4-year-old critical after being stabbed by mother’s girlfriend

A four-year-old child is currently battling for her life at the Georgetown Public Hospital after she was stabbed by a woman with whom her mother shared a relationship.
While details are still sketchy, Guyana Times was informed that the stabbing occurred at Hyde Park, Timehri, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on Tuesday morning.
A Police source explained that the child’s mother and the suspect had an argument that led to a fight. At the time, the child’s mother was holding the child who was stabbed in the process.
This publication was made to understand that it was after the child started to bleed, the two women realised that she had been stabbed. She was picked up and rushed to the Diamond hospital, where she was treated and referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital. The child was admitted a patient in a critical state.
When contacted on Tuesday afternoon, the Regional Commander of the Division, Denise Griffith confirmed the stabbing incident while stating that the child was in critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
She also stated that the suspect has since gone into hiding.
However, later in the evening, this publication was informed that the suspect turned herself in at the Timehri Police Station with an attorney, and was currently in Police custody assisting with investigations.
