$41,000 fine, community service for vendor found with ganja
A vendor has been fined and ordered to perform two months of community service after being found guilty of possession of narcotics.
Wendez Pompey, a 23-year-old vendor of 23 Hill Street, Albouystown Georgetown, was arrested on Saturday, February 10, on the Suddie Public Road, Essequibo Coast, with 27.9 grams of cannabis in his possession.
Pompey appeared on Monday
before Charity Magistrate Esther Sam and pleaded guilty to the charge. He has been fined $41,550 and ordered to perform two months of community service for not more than three hours per day at the Ruimveldt Police Station. In default of this order, the defendant will face two months’ imprisonment.
