49 students successful at Guyana Karate Family grading examinations

The successful participants who engaged in the Grading Examinations take a photo op with their Sensei

The Guyana Karate Family (GKF) held its first ever karate grading examinations at its School of the Nations dojo on July 28, 2019. Head of the International Karate Daigatsu (IKD), Shuseki Shihan Frank Woon-A-Tai, 9th Dan, assisted by Master Jeffrey Wong of the Guyana Karate College and Sensei Lawrence Lowe of the GKF conducted the grading of 49 karate students. Some of the GKF’s first 1st dan or black belt students, Abhigyan Chatterdeo, Anya Insanally and Lateef Moffat, were also on hand to assist during the grading exercise. The audience, packed with parents and other well-wishers, saw very good performances by a number of students. Two students, Farhan Jahan and Nick Sookdeo, achieved the rank of shodan or black belt.
The following students also obtained promotions: Murduoq Boyce, Jazara Hewitt, Chad Michael Lall and Cyrus Alex Ramsaran to 1KYU;
Amar A. Jairam, Jeremiah William, Zion Rambarran, Jaiya Harricharan, Kadre Henry, Anaaya Jaian and Shiquana Corlette to 2KYU;
Godfrey Gibson, Amaya Jairam, A’Oife Baird and Sven Douglas to 4 KYU;
Kylan Mullis, Johnathon Ramdass, Taylor Hargobin, Tyler Hargobin, Liam Van Sluytman, and Nicolas A Mendes Silva to 6 KYU; and
Sariah Henry, Liam DeSilva, Kevan Drubahadur, Dominic Loaknauth, Abdul Hopkinson, Malachi Sumner, Kiran Drubahadur and Julian Mohabir to 7KYU.
