4th Annual ‘Non-Alcoholic Malt’ Cycling meet set for today
The fourth annual ‘Non-Alcoholic Malt’ cycle racing meet is slated to ride off today at the inner circuit of the National Park from 09:30h with the top riders across the country on show.
The event is sponsored by Banks DIH who has continuously thrown their support behind this event and is in collaboration with the Guyana Cycling Federation to make this meet possible.
Cycling Co-coordinator, Hassan Mohamed, has expressed his delight in the efforts made by corporate Guyana in developing the sport.
He pointed out that, “if there is no competition, there is no way the riders will develop and it is because the business community has constantly invested in activities such as this”. It is no surprise that the sport is developing over the years and every year in this meet, we
see a new winner emerging.
The last time the event went under way; Hamza Eastman rode off with first place in the 35-lap School Boys open, while Stefano Husbands pedalled his way to victory in the 10-lap Juvenile race. Other winners included Keon Thomas who was victorious in the five-lap mountain bike race, Ralph Williams who won the five-lap veteran’s race and Amika Gomes won the under-14 boys and girls three lap race.
Amongst those to look out for today are Orville Hinds, Michael Anthony, Marlon Williams, Christopher Cornelius, Raphael Leung and others.
11 races are set to get under way.
After the races, Banks DIH representatives, Mortimer Stewart, Outdoor Event Manager, and Clayton McKenzie will be present to distribute the winning prizes.
