Five Brazilian nationals were fined 30,000 each on Friday, and their deportation was ordered after they pleaded guilty to the offence of illegal entry. Fabricio Braga Tomza, 24; Daniel Dos Santos Reis, 23; Cleocione Ferreira de Souza, 44; Edimar Dos Santos Chaves, 40; and Geovanny Nogueira Ferreira, 23, all from Boa Vista, Brazil, were arrested and charged with the offence. They were charged with entering Guyana by crossing a land frontier and failing to promptly present themselves to the nearest Immigration Officer.
The five accused appeared on Friday before Magistrate Nikkisha Logan at Lethem Magistrate’s Court, where they pleaded guilty to the charges. As such, they were fined and are expected to be deported soon. Back in April, two Brazilian nationals of Boa Vista, Roraima, Brazil, who were arrested and charged with the offence of Illegal Entry, were also fined and deported.
