Based on reports gathered, smoke was seen billowing from the building at about 10:30h and quickly engulfed the entire building. No one was at home at the time. The wooden building was owned by Melissa Hutson.
According to reports received, one of Hutson’s sons left home minutes before flames were seen coming from the house.
Guyana Times could not ascertain whether any electrical appliances were left plugged into outlets. Reports suggested however that a kerosene stove was left alight.
The Guyana Fire Service has launched a probe into the cause of the fire.
