A three-vehicle collision on the Enmore, East Coast Demerara (ECD) Public Road on Thursday evening has left five persons nursing injuries about their bodies.
The injured persons have been identified as Ralph Ramnauth, 62, of Good Hope, ECD; Kenroy Change, 21, of Albouystown, Georgetown; Tishawna Poole, 22, of Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD); Cliff Johnson, 66, of Chateau Margot, and Ricardo De Younge, 40, of Lamaha Springs, Georgetown.
Based on information received, the accident occurred around 19:00h, and involved a black Mercedes Benz bearing licence plate PYY 6534, a silver Toyota Premio bearing registration number PPP 4779, and a white Land Cruiser with registration number PXX 6902.
The Land Cruiser was reportedly heading west along the public road with the Mercedes Benz travelling closely behind when the driver of the Premio lost control and ended up in the path of the Mercedes Benz.
According to an eyewitness, the Land Cruiser flipped onto its side and almost ended up in a nearby trench.
The occupants of the vehicles were pulled from the wreckage and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where they were admitted. Their conditions are said to be stable.
The accident occurred after 18:00h – the time set by the National COVID-19 Task Force as the start of the curfew which ends at 06:00h, in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Since its implementation, a number of persons have been arrested for disobeying the restrictions.
Also, there have been several accidents that have left several persons dead and others severely injured.
