5 plead not guilty as phone card murder trial begins
The five accused in the Adventure phonecard murder trial all entered pleas of not guilty when the trial opened at the Berbice Assizes on Monday before Justice Sandil Kissoon.
The five: Mark Dhuman, 27; Abdul Salam Azimullah called “Sato”; Shuman Batson, and Satesh Budram, 24; all of Hampshire Village, Corentyne, and Zaheer Abdulla called “Gold Teeth”, of Adelphi, East Canje, are alleged to have killed 36-year-old Danian Anthony Jagdeo of Williamsburg, Corentyne, during the commissioning of a robbery.
The incident took place at Adventure, Corentyne, on February 5, 2017. It has been reported that Jagdeo was distributing phonecards when he was allegedly shot and killed.
The State’s case is being presented by Attorney-at-Law Abigail Gibbs.
Attorney-at-Law Surihya Sabsook is representing Dhuman and Budram while Attorney Motie Singh is representing Batson. Azimullah is being represented by Attorney Siand Dhurjon.
Justice Kissoon has set Thursday to commence hearing the evidence. (G4)
