5 students promoted to 1st Dan, among others

ASK-G Karate grading…

Head of the IKD, 9th Dan Shuseki Shihan Frank Woon-A-Tai, assisted by 7th Dan Amir Khouri and 4th Dan Roger Peroune, recently conducted a karate grading examination at the YMCA building at Thomas Lands, Georgetown.
There were some refreshing performances done by the young children, loudly applauded by parents and supporters. An enjoyable day ensued as exams in the White, Yellow, Orange, Green & Blue Belts got underway.
A short break was then taken after those exams, but the testings resumed last Sunday with the anxious and anticipated Dan levels (8 for Shodan, 1 for Nidan and 1 for Yondan).
The examinations resumed with the Purple to Dan levels being taken by 5 students who took the Shodan test. Excellent performances earned them success.
Five students were promoted to 1st Dan: Jared Rambissoon of Albion, Berbice; Kevin Fraser, Bevon Jordan, Christopher James and Bradley Fenty, all of the YMCA.

Kyu to Orange Belt: Annastica Joseph, Allana Morgan, Teshana Lake, and Aletha Joseph.
Kyu to Green Belt: Jessica Tulla.
Kyu to Purple Belt: Kyron Thomas, Aishah Persaud, Isaiah Anderson, and Jonathon Morgan.
Kyu to Brown Belt: Thamishwar Dyasindoo, Joel Harry.
Kyu to Brown Belt: Luke Seabra

Shuseki Shihan Frank Woon-A-Tai will be in the country for 3 months. He will be teaching on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Guyana Karate College, also on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the YMCA. These sessions are in preparation for the upcoming IKD Caribbean Karate Championships which are set to be staged from August 23 to 25 at the National Sports Hall. The sessions will see students preparing for the competition, also judges training courses and instructors training.
