5 unvaccinated persons among 6 new COVID-19 deaths

…123 new cases detected
… MoH monitoring several “hotspots”

The Health Ministry on Tuesday announced that six more persons who tested positive for COVID-19 have died, thus taking the overall death toll to 778.
These patients were reportedly admitted at medical institutions with COVID-19-like symptoms, and died while receiving care. Samples taken at the time of admission have subsequently returned positive tests. With the new deaths, September 2021, with 153 deaths, has recorded the highest number of deaths since the pandemic hit these shores in March 2020.
However, among the fatalities was one fully-vaccinated individual, while the others were unvaccinated.

In addition, new statistics provided by the Health Ministry showed that 123 new cases were detected in one day. This has brought the total confirmed cases in the country to 31,359.
A total of 31 persons are in the designated Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 3774 are in home isolation, 10 are in institutional quarantine, and 137 are in institutional isolation. The data shows that 26,639 patients have recovered from the life-threatening virus.
A breakdown of the new cases showed that four were recorded in Region One (Barima-Waini), 17 in Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara), 65 in Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica), four in Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice), 10 in Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), one in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), 11 in Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo), and one in Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice).
There were no increases for Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) and Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni).
Meanwhile, a high number of cases are being monitored in all administrative regions, with Region Three recording clusters in Tuschen, La Parfaite Harmonie, Crane, Cornelia Ida, Pouderoyen, Zeelugt, La Grange, Vreed-en-Hoop, Santa Mission, Patentia, Westminster and Sisters Village. These locations have more than 30 cases each.
The Region Four hotspots are Diamond, Grove, Eccles, Providence, Herstelling, Mon Repos, Good Hope, Turkeyen, Lodge, West Ruimveldt, Cummings Lodge, Campbellville, South Ruimveldt, Kitty and Sophia.

Bath Settlement in Region Five, Bartica in Region Seven, Aishalton in Region Nine, and Wismar in Region 10 are also under the Ministry’s radar.
“In all the regions, we have cases. In these regions that I have identified…you have particular areas within these regions where we have a number of cases,” said Health Minister Dr Frank Anthony.
Current vaccination numbers show a first dose uptake of 356,062, or 69.4 per cent of the adult population; along with 184,941 second doses, or 36.1 per cent of the adult population. Some 23,237 persons, or 31.9 per cent of adolescents, have received the Pfizer COVID vaccine.
