50-year-old found dead near coconut tree

Police in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 50-year-old man who was found at Richmond, Essequibo Coast.

Dead is Lallbacchan also known as “Ravi” and “Labaria”.
The man’s body was discovered by residents of Richmond Housing Scheme, Mandir Street, on Tuesday.
According to Tulsieram Monilall, the dead man was an alcoholic and would usually consume alcohol with his father.
Monilall added that he was at home when he heard a noise coming from his yard, and upon investigation, he saw Lallbacchan next to a toilet area.
“I asked him what he doing there and he told me that he is using the toilet. I then saw Ravi fall on the concrete and I pick him up and put him to sit at his father’s verandah and give him some water to drink,” Monilall said.
Monilall stated that minutes later, he saw a huge gathering in front of his father’s house and upon checking he saw Lallbacchan lying motionlessly on the ground next to a coconut tree.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted on Thursday to determine the cause of death.
