Fifty-two persons graduated with a Certificate in Supervisory Management, a course accredited by the National Accreditation Council, Guyana. The graduation ceremony was held at the Mahaicony Technical Institute auditorium on Saturday, November 19, 2022.
The students attended classes at Zeeland, Mahaicony and at Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice.
According to the Guyana Learning Institute, the students were engaged in face-to-face classes, which spanned 64 contact hours and focused on, among other concepts, the history of management, decision making, managing expectations of employers, employees and other stakeholders, managing change, building and working with teams, communication and its importance to management, conducting meetings, managing and rewarding performance in the workplace, the importance of time management, leadership, power and related theories and managing personal and professional growth.
As part of the projects, which formed part of the students’ practical involvement, renovation works were done by the Mahaicony students on the Youth Choice building in Fairfield, while the Bush Lot students renovated the washroom facilities for the males, females and teachers, as well as upgraded the walk ways. All students received sponsorship from the Board of Industrial Training, via the Guyana Learning Institute, to pursue their studies.
