58 turn out for GCB/Sports Organizer cricket workshop
Berbice cricketers remain beneficiaries of multiple programmes offered in that Ancient County, the latest of those being the Guyana Cricket Board’s (GCB’s) cricket workshop (camp) being held in collaboration with Region 6 Sports Organiser Godwin Allicock.
That programme commenced at the Albion Community Centre Ground on Tuesday August 27 and will conclude on Friday August 30. It is thus far being attended by 58 under-15 participants. Today’s proceedings will involve former West Indies Test player Colin Stuart and Cricket West Indies Level Three Coach Julain Moore, who will work along with CWI Level Two coaches Tremayne Smartt and Anthony D’Andrade and cricket veteran Michael Hyles.
Region 6 Sports Organiser Godwin Allicock has disclosed that this cricket workshop will continue to develop the youngsters’ skills in the game, and ensure they stick to the basics of the game, since this is essential to their development.
Female players in Berbice have not turned out in their numbers, but Allicock disclosed that, in the upcoming month, a separate programme would cater for the female cricketers’ needs.
A notable attendee of this camp is Port Mourant’s very own Rampertab Ramnuath, the West Indies Under-15 batsman who recently returned from duty in the United Kingdom.
