6 arrested following discovery of ammo and ganja in Sophia
Six persons, including two couples, were arrested on Tuesday following the discovery of 190 live rounds of .45 ammunition and 13.221 kilograms of ganja in a house at Pike Street, North Sophia, Greater Georgetown.
Based on reports, about 03:00h on the day in question, Police, acting on information received, went to the house and cordoned it off. While doing so, Police observed a bulky black plastic bag being thrown out of a window of the house. As such, the bag was retrieved and the ganga hence unearthed.
Consequently, the Police entered the home, where they saw the six suspects who denied having any knowledge of the bag and its contents.
Further, the Police conducted a search of the premises during which a measuring scale was found. In addition, another bag of cannabis was unearthed in the yard – about 30 feet from the house, along with one white plastic bucket containing a small rice bag with 190 rounds of live .45 ammunition.
The cannabis that was thrown out the window was weighed and amounted to 55 grams while the cannabis found in the yard weighed 13.166 kilograms.
Police are continuing their investigations.
