6 charities benefit from Ram & McRae’s $1.5M donation

Ram and McRae, a chartered accounting and professional services firm, is making sure that smiles are on the faces of those in need during the festive season. As such, six charitable organisations have benefited from donations worth $1.5 million.

Recipients Sis Adline Grace of the Missionaries of Charity; Joan Stephens of the Red Cross Convalescent Home; Pastor Gary Erskine of the Dharma Shala; Osilla Harte of the David Rose Special Needs School; Patrick De Groot of Beacon Foundation; and Denise Boodie of Uncle Eddie’s Home pose with Christopher Ram after receiving the donations

The beneficiaries are Uncle Eddie’s Home, the Dharm Shala, the Beacon Foundation, the David Rose Special Needs School, the Red Cross Children’s Convalescent Home and the Missionaries of Charity of New Amsterdam.
Each of these organisations received a cheque for the sum of $250,000 on Tuesday, and that money is likely to go towards the furtherance of their respective operations.
The simple hand-over ceremony took place at the offices of Ram and McRae in Waterloo Street, Georgetown. There, the Managing Partner of the firm, Christopher Ram, expressed how happy he was to be part of such an impactful gesture.
“We applaud the work you are doing, and we want you to do more (hence the donation). We hope that society will recognise your work, and [on behalf of all of us here] we wish you all the best for the season and the New year,” Ram added.
He hinted that the Ram and McRae firm, building on a practice that has been ongoing for years, foresees many more gestures like this in the future. There is also the intent to target more local charities.
One of the representatives receiving the donations, Pastor Gary Erskine of the Dharm Shala, explained that the donation would aid in the functioning of the organisations.
“The Dharma Shala has been in existence for over 100 years. It’s a private home, and it is run as a charitable home, and we take in the very poor without proper documentation, without birth certificate or ID, but as long as they come to our gate, we receive them. So, we trust the Father (God) that this donation goes a far way,” he said.
The other representatives briefly stated that they consider this donation a blessing to their organisations, as it would alleviate some of the needs that currently exist with the Christmas holidays quickly approaching.
