The Berbice Cricket Board’s 2022 Ivan Madray 20/20 tournament has started in a blaze of glory and good weather, with five matches being played across the county.

The tournament is one of at least three that the proactive Cricket Board is aiming to successfully complete before the end of the year. Albion, Tucber Park, Port Mourant, Young Warriors, and Blairmont won their first-round matches to advance to the second round.
BCB President Hilbert Foster and Competition Committee Chairman Leslie Solomon visited each of the matches to make sure that all arrangements were in place and used the opportunity to hand over coaching equipment to Coaches working in the area.

The tournament is being sponsored by Chandradat Chinatami in memory of his uncle Ivan Madray, a former player who played two Test matches for the West Indies in the 1950s. The opening round attracted sizeable crowds as cricket restarted after a five-month break caused by the rainy season. The opening round saw outstanding performances from former Test player Sewnarine Chattergoon, Josh Harrichan, Shabeer Baksh, and Trevon Stanislaus. Scores from the matches were:
