61-year-old woman, 2 others busted with cocaine during Police operation

Three women were on Thursday taken into custody following the discovery of 7.4 grams of cocaine during a Police operation at Philadelphia Public Road, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).
Based on reports received, on the day in question at about 17:45h, ranks of the Guyana Police Force were conducting a stop and search exercise along the Philadelphia Public Road, EBE, when a motor car bearing registration number PZZ 6014 driven by a 31-year-old female, was stopped.
As such, the Police requested to carry out a search on the said vehicle. At the time there were two other women – a 26-year-old and a 61-year-old in the back passenger seat of the motor car.
As the Police attempted to open the car door, they both instructed the driver not to open the door and she complied by activating the door lock.
However, a policeman then started to record the operation and about 15 minutes later, the ranks managed to get the door open with the assistance of the driver.
A search was conducted in the vehicle in the presence of the women during which a quantity of small whitish rocklike substances was found on the floor, and back seat of the said vehicle.
The occupants were told of the suspicions, arrested and escorted to the Leonora Police Station, where the suspected substance was weighed in their presence and amounted to 7.4 grams.
The three women were arrested as Police continue their investigations.
