65-year-old Linden woman granted bail on narcotics charge

Sixty-five-year-old Bernadette Robertson was on Tuesday granted bail in the sum of $150,000 and asked to lodge her passport with the Police until the completion of her trial.
Robertson is before the court on a possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking charge. The facts in the matter state that Robertson on February 15 at Lot 90 North Blueberry Hill had in her possession 94.2 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
The application for bail was made on the grounds that the elderly woman was not in the best of health and the constant travelling to and from the women’s penitentiary in Berbice would soon take its toll on her.
The prosecution did not object to bail, but asked that the accused report to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Wismar Police Station every Friday at 09:00h for the duration of the trial.
The matter was adjourned until April 16, 2018.
