65-year-old man dies after crashing into post

A 65-year-old man is now dead after he crashed into a utility post on Saturday evening at Post Office Street, Grove, East Bank Demerara, as he attempted to reverse his vehicle out of the street.
Dead is Neekaytan Kurpat, whose address was given as Demerara Sugar Terminus.
According to Traffic Chief Dion Moore, around 23:00h on Saturday, Kurpat was in the process of reversing motor car PLL 1894 when he slammed into a utility post. The vehicle reportedly spun into a ditch and the 65-year-old man was taken out of the vehicle by public-spirited persons in an unconscious state.
Eyewitnesses told Guyana Times that blood was seen oozing out of a wound Kurpat sustained on his head, as a result of the accident.
The man was pronounced dead when he arrived at the Diamond hospital shortly after.
It is being speculated that the 65-year-old man may have sustained a heart attack during the accident, which may have led to his death.
Nevertheless, the body is presently at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
