70+ top horses booked for August 28 horse meet at KMTC

The Guyana Cup horse race meeting was held on August 9 at the Rising Sun Turf Club in Region Five, and enthusiasts of the proverbial sport of kings, having then been treated to scintillating action, are in for more of the same when top horses assemble at the Kennard Memorial Turf Club at Bush Lot in Region Six on August 28.

There are more than 70 entries for the August 28 horse meet

This exciting event will see six full races and more than five million dollars in prizes up for grabs. According to race organizers, more than 70 horses would be battling for supremacy, and the track is in excellent condition to facilitate nail-biting finishes.
Race One will be the K non-earner of 2022 and L Open, which has 12 entries. Race two will be the G and lower, which has six entries. Race Three will be for the three- and two-year-old Guyana-bred animals, and 12 horses would be contesting it.
Race four will be the J3 non-starters, and over 20 entries have been received. This race will possibly see two groups of horses. The fifth race of the day will be run in the J and Lower category, and 12 horses have entered for this race.
The ultimate race of the day, which has a top prize of three million dollars, will be the C and Lower. The six top horses that have signed up for this race are Wild Texas Tom, the horse that came second in the Guyana Cup feature race; Vera’s Finally, which did not participate in this most recent Guyana Cup, but is a winner of 2 previous Guyana Cups (in 2017/18); Regal Intention, the horse that ran fourth in the sprint class on Guyana Cup day;
Early bird, winner of the sprint classic on Guyana Cup day; Lucky Star, which did not participate in the Guyana Cup, but is a previous Guyana Cup winner (in 2019); and Golden Blu Ecko, winner on the track at Bush Lot).

Action in this meet would commence at 13:00h, and side attraction includes music from Rhythm Star. A trampoline would be there to facilitate the kids. Admission for adults is $2000 and for children $1000.
