77 grams of ganja found at Soesdyke junction

A 37-year-old security guard/vendor is currently in custody after a quantity of suspected cannabis was discovered during an operation at Soesdyke Junction, East Bank Demerara (EBD), on Friday morning.

The discovery was made at about 10:30h, during an intelligence-led exercise carried out in the area.
Reports indicate that law enforcement ranks conducted a search of a shop and its surrounding premises at Soesdyke Junction. During the operation, 45 transparent Ziploc plastic bags containing leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis were found concealed in sand beneath a coconut tree, a short distance from the building.
The suspected narcotics were retrieved and later weighed in the presence of the suspect, amounting to 77 grams.
The man, who is a resident of Soesdyke, EBD, was arrested at the scene and taken to the Timehri Police Station, where he remains in custody.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
