8 Coaches earn Guyana C licence

…As GFF advances national Coaching development

Eight Coaches have successfully completed the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) C Licence Coaching Course, marking another step forward in the Federation’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Coach education, licensing and professional development across the country.
The graduates received their certificates during a ceremony held on Wednesday, September 2, at the National Training Centre (NTC) at Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD), under the theme “Developing Excellence Through Coaching”.
The graduating cohort comprised Akel Clarke, Jerome Richardson, Marlon Whitney, Oneal Heywood, Herbert McPherson, Jermine Junor, Travis Bess, and Jocelyn Bentick.
GFF President Wayne Forde, who delivered the feature address, said the Federation’s continued investment in Coach education and professional development remains a key component of his administration’s legacy.
“One of the legacies I am most proud of is the emphasis we have placed on Coach education, licensing and professionalism. Under my leadership, developing better-qualified Coaches has remained a priority because Coaches arguably have the greatest influence on our young people, not only in shaping them as footballers but also in helping them become disciplined, productive members of society. That is why this work matters so deeply to me,” Forde said.
The ceremony also featured remarks from GFF General Secretary Pushpargha Chattopadhyay, Technical Director Bryan Joseph and Head of Coach Education Linsworth Gilbert, who highlighted the objectives of the programme, its key learning outcomes and the opportunities available through the Federation’s wider Coaching development pathway.
Adding a practical perspective to the occasion was Jamal Pedro, Head Coach of Guyana’s Caribbean Football Union (CFU) U14 Challenge Series Tier II championship-winning team, who delivered a reflection on his Coaching journey and the importance of continuous development.
The GFF said its sustained investment in Coach education is geared towards creating a larger pool of qualified and professional Coaches capable of improving player development at every level of the game, from grassroots and youth football to the elite level.
The Federation congratulated the eight graduates on their achievement and commended their commitment to enhancing Coaching standards and contributing to the continued development of football in Guyana.
