Eight intelligent and beautiful young ladies will be the central point of attention on August 3 when the Miss Region One (Barima-Waini) Pageant is hosted.
The grand coronation is set for the L&D Resort, Kumaka, North West District (NWD) commencing at 20:00h.
The delegates were chosen from various villages in the region and will be part of several events leading up to the grand coronation. On July 27, the eight delegates will be sashed and have the opportunity to impress the judges in the introductory segment.
This will be followed by an empowerment forum on July 30 when the contestants will make their presentations on their platforms, which are aimed at addressing social ills in their respective communities. A panel of judges will be questioning each delegate on various aspects of her presentation.
On August 1, the Mabaruma Settlement Ground will come alive when the organising committee hosts the costume and talent segments. Each delegate will create a costume reflecting Guyanese folklore.
In addition, the eight girls will be involved in community outreaches. Then it all comes down to the big night – Saturday, August 3. The night will open with a dance following by a brief introduction of the delegates. On this night, the winner of the platform segment will be announced. She will then proceed to make a presentation on her platform to the audience.
Then, the top three winners of the talent and costume segments will take to the stage. This will be followed by the sport wear segment and the evening gown segment. The final segment of the evening will be the delegates answering the final question.
The winner of the Miss Region One Pageant will travel to Georgetown in September for the Miss Indigenous Pageant where she will compete with the nine other regional winners.
