8-year-old hit by car while crossing road

An eight-year-old pedestrian is now hospitalised after he was hit by a motor car at Amelia’s Ward Public Road, in the vicinity of Toucan Drive Junction, Linden.
The accident occurred around 09:15h and involved motor car PRR 3003 driven by a 30-year-old of Victory Valley, Wismar, Linden.
It was reported that motor car PRR 3003 was proceeding west along Amelia’s Ward Public Road when its left rear-view mirror struck the child of Central Amelia’s Ward, Police said, who had run from the northern to the southern side of the road.
As a result, he fell to the road, and sustained injuries about his body.
The child was picked up in an unconscious state by the driver and taken to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was treated for head injuries.
He was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The driver of the motor car is presently in Police custody assisting with the investigation. (G1)
