Ranks in D Division (West Demerara- East Bank Essequibo) on Friday arrested nine persons, inclusive of a female, on the West Coast of Demerara (WCD) during a drug raid.
The raid, which lasted from 14:00h to 19:00h, was carried out in a number of villages across the West Coast.
Guyana Times understands that ranks acted on information and swopped down at Goed Fortuin, where one person was arrested with 25.8 grams of cannabis in her possession.
This publication was informed that five persons were arrested in De Kendren, WCD when ranks swooped down on a known “drug hut”.
With the use of sniffer dogs, the ranks were able to unearth some 2.508 kilograms of cannabis stashed in a drum.
Four persons were later apprehended in Tuschen, where 285 grams of cannabis was discovered.
The arrested persons are now being processed for court.
