An Enmore, Hope West, East Coast Demerara (ECD) father of two is now crippled after he was beaten and robbed by three armed men almost three months ago.
Thirty-seven-year-old Somdat Singh was attacked at around 21:00h on the night of June 20, 2019.

According to the man’s wife, Amina Singh, she was at home when she heard her husband calling at the gate. When she looked outside, she saw him lying by the gate.
Singh told Guyana Times that she rushed to him and realised that he was unable to walk. At that time, she was told that he was on his way home from work when he was attacked, beaten and robbed by three men who were consuming alcohol at a shop.
“He tell me that one of them know he and called for him and said Ravi come leh we tek a drink and he tell dem he going home but he said that the boy curse him and he curse him back and continued walking” the woman relayed.
The grieving wife noted that her husband further relayed that he felt one blow to his neck after which he went blank.
“He said after that he felt a lash to his neck and he didn’t know anything more. When he catch himself, he creep and come home because when my husband come home, he was on the ground trying to get the gate open and I run out, when I reach him, I asked him what was wrong and he said that he can’t stand up. Then he told me that three guys lash he on his head back” Singh explained.
At that time, they realised that he was robbed of $20,000 which was in his pocket.
However, as a result of the beating, the victim sustained six broken bones in his neck and damages to his spinal cord.
