Wanted man caught driving stolen car in Linden

A car which was reported stolen from an Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) teacher was on Wednesday found in Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) being driven by a man wanted by Police.
Reports are that about 09:00h on Wednesday, Police ranks, acting on information received, went to Wisroc Junction in Wismar, Linden, where they intercepted a silver-grey motor car, bearing registration number PMM 4928, that was reported stolen at Lima Sands, Essequibo Coast.
Police said that the car, which is the property of a 29-year-old teacher of Mainstay, Essequibo, was reported to have been stolen between September 26 and October 2, 2023.
On Wednesday evening, Police said that when the vehicle was intercepted, it was being driven by Gose Awad, a 29-year-old ‘motor bodywork man’ of Lima Sands, Essequibo Coast.
According to Police, Awad was wanted for the offence of break-and-enter-and-larceny committed on Ganesh Jagmohan, a 58-year-old bus driver of Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara, which occurred between May 22 and May 27, 2023. It is alleged that the man stole articles valued at $2,500,000 from Jagmohan.
The wanted man was arrested and escorted to the Wismar Police Station, along with the stolen motor car, which was subsequently lodged while he was placed into custody.
He, along with the car, was later taken to Regional Police Division Number Three as further investigations continue. According to Police, he will be escorted to Region Two for the investigation into stolen car.
