Sunil Ramdeo, a 25-year-old welder of Anna Regina, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), was on Tuesday sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment after being found guilty of assaulting an 11-year-old student.
Ramdeo appeared before Anna Regina Magistrate Esther Sam charged with assault causing actual bodily harm, committed on the student of C.V. Nunes Primary School on July 16 at Anna Regina, Essequibo Coast.
Ramdeo was charged under Section 30(a) of the Summary Jurisdiction Offences Act, Chapter 8:02, and following the trial, the magistrate found Ramdeo guilty of the offence, resulting in the sentence of 12 months’ imprisonment.
