9 roads rehabilitated in Corriverton for 1st quarter of 2024 – Mayor Amin

Corriverton’s Mayor Imran Amin recently stated that nine roads were rehabilitated during the first quarter of the year in his township.
The Public Works Ministry is about to commence phase two of its road rehabilitation programme in the town of Corriverton and will see another set of roads being upgraded.

The Ministry is currently identifying roads to be included in that phase while the Local Government and Regional Development Ministry is also set to upgrade several community roads.
“The one at Dukestown running into Scottsburg has been identified. It is a long street; the area is not very populated but it will benefit about 20 families. That is one of the streets that has been identified so I am assuming that it will be in the programme to be done,” Amin told the Guyana Times.
According to the Mayor, drainage work is also in the work programme and a concrete drain is currently being built in the vicinity of the market along Juman Road. Currently, the contractor is waiting on curing time before he finishes the project.
“We have some drains in the upcoming projects which will be done before mid-year.”
Meanwhile, very soon additional street lights will be installed in needed areas around the town. The mayor added that the lights are being procured and soon the contract to have them installed will be awarded.
“We want residents of this town to be comfortable and must have enhanced living standards within the township.”
