‘Men on Mission’ initiative positively impacting communities – Benn

The Men on Mission (MOM) initiative has had a positive impact on communities across the country in areas of social upliftment and national development.
Home Affairs Minister Robeson Benn has highlighted the significant impact of the Men on Mission initiative, which was launched in 2022 by President Dr Irfaan Ali.
Benn was speaking during the opening ceremony of the 39th Annual General Meeting and Conference of the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police head at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC) on Monday.
MOM – is a national initiative aimed at empowering men to become role models and support a progressive society. It focuses on equipping men with responsibility, encouraging them to support a better system, and working with young people through coaching, mentoring, and motivation.
MOM also aims to make a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable populations, including single parents, pensioners, persons with disabilities, and disaster victims.

“The Men on Mission initiative, conceptualised and initiated by President Ali, which facilitates outreach, support and mentoring to at-risk youth and others who have difficult challenges in communities, is having an extraordinary impact on life in the community. Among others, they are significant actors in this effort.”
This year, the MOM programme received $700 million to continue its work. Of this sum, $395 million will be used to build 52 houses for vulnerable individuals nationwide.
The Home Affairs Minister further noted that the Guyana Police Force (GPF) is also making a positive impact on communities through various community policing groups.
“We have expanded our community policing group. We look to continue our effort to advance diversity, equity, and inclusivity in our forces to make sure that we represent for each community, the best resource. The rest enables us to secure peace, security, development, and comfort.”
