The Badri Prasad Memorial T20 competition began last Sunday on the Essequibo island of Wakenaam with Good Success and Maria’s Pleasure recording thumping victories in their opening fixtures.
The highlight of the day came from Essequibo U17 player David Chalitar with a five-wicket haul for Good Success over San Souci and Leorayan Ramlakhan who blasted an unbeaten 94 against San Souci Jaguars.
In the opening game, Good Success defeated Sans Souci by four wickets at the Wakenaam Community Centre ground. Chalitar bowled impressively to finish with 5-17 as Sans Souci were bowled out for 97 in 17.2 overs, batting first. Omal Bacon made 25 as skipper Imran Khan and Vickram Ramnarine supported Chalitar with 2-10 and 2-17 respectively. Good Success responded with 99-6 in 13.3 overs with Khan scoring 31; Bacon returned to capture 2-24.
