$300M infrastructural works for La Parfaite Harmonie – Project Director

The Central Housing and Planning Authority’s (CH&PA) Project Director, Omar Narine, has said the Housing Authority has over $300 million of planned infrastructural development works for the La Parfaite Harmonie Housing Scheme.
Narine made the comments on Tuesday during a tour of the newly developed sections of the La Parfaite Harmonie Housing Scheme on the West Bank of Demerara.

“In December, we completed $40 million in infrastructure upgrading projects where we have upgraded various deteriorating roads in Parfaite. We are aggressively engaging the NDC to take over those roads so that they can do the necessary maintenance programmes on the roads and for this year we a potential $300 million in infrastructural works ongoing in Parfaite,” he noted.
He noted that they are currently executing infrastructural works at Lust-en-Rust and Retch-Door-Zee. Additionally, Narine informed reporters that work on over 200 lots at Lust-en-Rust would be completed in 2018. He noted that the project had to be terminated in 2017 due to non-compliance of the contractor.
He further related that the Lust-en-Rust area would be soon outfitted with water, electricity and paved roads.
“All the roads are up to loam level and the final base material is the crusher run and installation of electricity. Waterlines are in the ground and the pressure testing has been completed already and the works are expected to be completed by February month end,” Narine added.

Re-migrant Scheme
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer Lelon Saul said they have recommenced allocation of house lots in the re-migrant scheme, more popularly known as Providence Gardens at Providence, East Bank of Demerara. He also indicated that they are inviting young professionals to apply for land in the luxurious residential community.
“We have recommenced the allocation of house lots there. Basically Guyanese living overseas and desirous of owning their own homes in Guyana can acquire house lots in that scheme. We do welcome our young professional to apply for house lots in that scheme and hope to consolidate the infrastructure work in that scheme,” Saul informed.
CH&PA’s Director of Operations, Denise King-Tudor explained that the prices of house lots are set at $4 million, $4.5 million, $5 million and $7 million. She added that there are also bigger lots available for interested person and that the cost would be calculated per square foot.
The plot sizes range from 6000 to 8000 square feet and King-Tudor explained that of the 538 lots, 127 have been allocated so far.
