Dear Editor,
I am a business owner in Calendar Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, and I am faced with a very unhealthy situation, which the Guyana Water Inc has the responsibility for.
At the end of every month when I receive a bill from GWI, a sewage fee is accounted for in my bill but when the sewage is clogged up they do not want to look at it. This situation has been reported to GWI since March 2019 to now, October 2019, but the only response I received from them since is “we will let the sanitation crew come and get it look”. Since this situation started in March, every day I am told that the sanitation crew is coming, but they cannot reach yet. On Friday a call was returned by the utility company and they asked about the situation. When the situation was being related to the person on the phone, he, in turn, responded “you can’t explain with attitude”. The situation is terrible and the odour is much to the annoyance to neighbours. Neighbours complain daily but I cannot do anything and it depends on GWI’s lackadaisical approach.
Yours truly,
Harikrishnan John
