Home Sports ACCCC 2nd Division tourney set for today
The Albion Community Centre Cricket Club (ACCCC) will host its 2nd Division 10/10 tournament today, Sunday September 8, at the Albion Community Centre Cricket Ground on the Corentyne Coast in East Berbice. Eight teams are slated to participate in this tourney, the finale of which is slated to be played under international-standard floodlights.
Participating teams are: Fyrish Cricket Club, Chesney Cricket Club, Jai Hind Cricket Club, Tamarind Root Cricket Club, Belvedere United Cricket Club, Hamid’s XI Cricket Club, Albion Community Centre Cricket Club, and the Kendall’s Union Sports Club.
The winning team would receive a trophy and $50,000, while the runner-up team would receive a trophy and $30,000. Outstanding performers would also be recognised, in that trophies will be awarded to the batsman with the most runs across the tournament, as well as the bowler with the most wickets across the tournament. A “player of the final” would also be awarded a special trophy.
The primary purpose of the Albion CCCC is to develop and promote the game of cricket for the benefit of its members and the citizens of Guyana as a whole. The Albion CCCC aids in the promotion of cricket development among cricket clubs in the Albion community and outlying areas.
The fixtures of this 10/10 tournament are as follows:
Round 1: Tamarind Root vs Kendall’s Union
Round 2: Chesney vs Albion
Round 3: Fyrish vs Belvedere United
Round 4: Hamid’s XI vs Jai Hind
