GSL/Golyn 10/10 softball…
The Golyn 10/10 countrywide softball cricket tournament organised by the Guyana Softball League
(GSL) and sponsored by Golyn and Sons, Trophy Stall and Miss Love Trading (West Coast) will resume today with 11 matches in three zones.
At Leonora, Omesh XI will play Mighty Lions. Omesh XI will be looking to build on their recent popularity in the one day tournament in which they defeated seasoned side Wolf’s Warriors to take the top prize.
The team is bubbling with confidence and will look to crush any opposition at this time. Mighty Lions have been going about their work quietly, chalking up wins and gaining points, but will have to play hard to win today’s game.
It will then be Ruimzeight XI against Maracs XI. Ruimzeight XI will be looking to come out of this encounter with a win and further strengthen their chances of a quarter-final spot.
Maracs have been low on confidence as shown in their last encounter in which they lost badly and the skipper will be pulling out all skills in order to restore the confidence in the team.
Goed Fortuin Exclusive XI will come against the likes of Superstreet XI. Exclusive XI, made up of some of the most promising young players in the tournament, will look to play aggressively to ensure they come out on top.
Superstreet XI have played unbeaten so far, and with experience in their line-up, they can be devastating when the conditions are in their favour.
In the final match, Amazon Warriors XI will clash Crossbreed XI. Crossbreed Warriors XI have rebounded nicely in this tournament, having lost in their first match. They have a powerful bowling line-up, which has dominated the opposition so far.
The batting has come on lately and in Imtiaz Hack and Mark Grant they have been successful in thwarting the opposition in winning by large margins. Matches will also be played in Diamond and Linden.
Meanwhile, the one ball ‘Man-to’ sponsored by Miss Love Trading (West Coast) will see a winner being crowned in this first phase as the ‘King’ and the second phase will start next weekend.
