Action to continue at Burnham Hardcourt

Action in the 2018 Rainforest Water/Malta Supreme/Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) Under23 league will continue tomorrow at the Burnham Hardcourt with UG Trojans taking on the unstoppable Plaisance Guardians to headline the night’s activities.
In the other scheduled match, Pacesetters will face Eagles in the U23 division.
Trojans and Guardians are the two top teams; they are flying on a high right now because of the successes they’ve been having. In their last encounter, in September, the Guardians lost to the Trojans 76-75. Many would have said that victory came by fluke, but, time after time, the Trojans have proven to be a challenging team in the competition.
The Guardians, on the other hand, have been consistent in attaining success, and continue to crush their opponents with commanding victories, all thanks to Jared Sears and Terrence Daniels who have been their leading scorers.
With the Trojans’ last win coming off the Eagles and the Guardians’ win coming off the Sonics, it goes without saying that the victor will be the team that makes the least amount of mistakes on the day of reckoning.
While the Trojans’ defence has been flawless in the last game against the Eagles, their past may yet come to haunt them, as they have been known to take the lead, somewhat lose focus, and barely scrape the win.
The Trojans must work on their defence, if they are to take on the Guardians who possess one of the best offensive attacks in the league. Guardians, on the other hand, seem to have the perfect side without spot or blemish, but if they are to be critiqued, they must continue to play in perfect balance as per norm.

Pacesetters seek
revenge against Eagles
In their last encounter, on September 12, the Eagles fought their way past the Pacesetters 82-79. Sherland Gillis recorded a game high 29 points in the win, while Shamar Huntley was the next best scorer, with 18 points.
The Eagles had edged past the Pacesetters, and the Pacesetters will be looking for revenge. It all went wrong for Pacesetters, as they could not hold on to the lead they had. If they have any intention of crushing the Eagles, they will need to figure out a strategy to stop Gillis, who has been sensational this season.
In the Eagles’ last encounter, they defeated the Kobras 68-56, with Captain Shamar Huntley leading the way and being aided by Gillis. With a recent win under their belt, they will be looking to carry that form into their match against the Pacesetters. (Timothy Jaikarran)
